Resistance Testing

January 2013 - After 60 years of use and misuse, evidence of insect resistance to phosphine fumigations are showing up in many parts of the United States. Testing insects for phosphine resistance can be performed at Insects Limited, Inc. of Westfield, Indiana. Our staff of experienced chemists and entomologists can provide the information you need to make critical fumigation decisions about phosphine resistance. By simply sending insect samples to Insects Limited, Inc. of Westfield, Indiana, we will provide a report on whether your pests are resistant to phosphine. Scrubber Workshop Announced

After many responses to know more about fumigant abatement, a "Build Your Own Scrubber Workshop" will be held December 5-7th, 2012 in Westfield, Indiana. Each attendee will be taken through the science and chemistry of removing and destroying dangerous fumigants. This will include phosphine, sulfuryl fluoride and methyl bromide. This workshop will provide you with the understanding of fumigants, scrubbing technology, and how to make your own scrubber. Your scrubber will be used in a real fumigation setting. Containers will be fumigated and your scrubber will be used to abate and destroy the enclosed fumigant. Gas readings will be taken during field applications and at the end of the scrubbing process the scrubbing solution will be quenched to a non-hazardous material. Each participant can take their scrubbers or have them shipped back home.
